George Harman was born in 1600 the son of John and Mildred Harman. He married at 20 in the year 1620 Elizabeth Langridge on the 2nd April 1620 at East Grinstead. He was a husbandman (farmer) at East Grinstead.

Robert their first son was born in 1622 and christened on the 28th February 1622. He was named after his father's brother. He was to be followed by George, Ann, Drewe, Joan, Margaret, and lastly Edward.

At the beginning of December 1628, George's father John Harman died leaving his wife Mildred (nee Payne) a widow. He was buried at East Grinstead on 13th December 1628. George's mother Mildred Harman died seven years after the death of her husband John aged when she was about 72 and she was buried with her husband John at East Grinstead on 5th August 1635.

Six month's prior to the death of his mother Mildred in August George and Elizabeth had commenced the year with the loss of one of their son Drewe aged three and still a baby. It would appear that this child was lost during Christmas as he was buried on New Years day, 1st January 1635. Tragedy was to strike George and Elizabeth again in 1647 when their youngest son Edward died at the tender age of four died.

Robert worked with his father George on the farm and was to follow in his father's footsteps as a husbandman but he was to die six months before his father George.

Elizabeth died and was buried at East Grinstead on 14th February 1670 at the age of 73. George her husband was age 70. Twenty years later George Harman was buried with Elizabeth on the 5th June 1690 at East Grinstead at the grand age of ninety.
