Descendant's report for Rev. Thomas Frederick Rudston Read, son of Rev. Thomas Cutler Rudston Read, of Sand Hutton and Louisa Read [Cholmley]

Reverend Thomas Frederick Rudstone-Read was educated at Eton and University College, Oxford. He was Rector of Full Sutton, Yorkshire from 1836 to 1845, and Rector of Winteringham, Lincolnshire from 1845 to 1865 and from 1865 until his death in 1892 he was Rector of Withyham. In his twenty-six years at Withyham he was noted for his development of the church with the creation of St Thomas's at Groombridge and a chapel at Blackham.

  He married (1) Louisa Lucy Erskine on 21st May 1845. She was the daughter of Very Rev. Hon. Henry David Erskine, Dean of Ripon and Mary Harriet Erskine [Dawson]. She was born 1816 at Warwickshire; died 12th Apr 1865. They had the following children:

  He married (2) Barbara Louisa Fell on Apr to June 1867, registered at Kensington District, London, ref: 1867 Q2 Vol 1 a Page 228. She was the daughter of Dr William Thomson, M.D. of Priorletham & St Andrews, Fife and Janet (Jessie) Thomson [Campbell]. She was born 11th Aug 1830 at Fife, Scotland; christened 28th Aug 1830 at St. Andrews and St. Leonards, Fife, Scotland; died 1909 at Axminster, Devon, aged 79 years. They had the following children:
2 iFrederica Louisa who was born 1868 at Withyham, Sussex; christened 16th Aug 1868 St. Michael's Church, Withyham, Sussex; died 1938 Haven Cliff, Seaton, Devon, aged 70 years

  She married Rev. Herbert Charles Gaye on 18th Jul 1893 at Guildford, Surrey, registered at Guildford District, Surrey, ref: 1893 Q3 Vol 2a Page 113. He was born 1856 at Ipswich, Suffolk; died 1931 at Haven Cliff, Seaton, Devon, aged 75 years
