| Penn's Rocks estate, which was formerly known as the Rocks, derived its present name from William Penn, the celebrated founder and Governor of Pennsylvania, who became possessed of the property through his wife Gulielma Maria Springett, daughter of Admiral Sir William Springett, Knight, the previous owner. The iron fire-back in the old hall bears the coat of arms of the Penn family. | |||||
