Conan Doyle, the creator of Sherlock Holmes, Professor Challenger and Brigadier Gerard, lived at Windlesham in Crowborough with his second wife Jean Leckie and their family from 1907 until his death in July 1930.

  He married (1) Lady Louise (Touie) Hawkins on 6th Aug 1885 at Lancashire. She was born 10th Apr 1857 at Dixton, Monmouth, Wales; died 4th Jul 1906. They had the following children:
  iMary Louise Conan who was born 28th Jan 1889 at Southsea, Hampshire; died 12th Jun 1976
  iiAlleyne Kingsley Conan who was born 15th Nov 1892 at South Norwood, Croydon, Surrey; died 28th Oct 1918, Influenza aggravated by war wounds
  He married (2) Lady Jean Leckie on 18th Sep 1907. She was born 14th Mar 1874 at Kidbrooke, Kent; died 27th Jun 1940; buried Jul 1940 at Windlesham, Crowborough, Sussex. They had the following children:
  iDenis Percy Stewart Conan who was born 17th Mar 1909 at Crowborough, Sussex; died 9th Mar 1955
  iiAdrian Malcolm Conan who was born 19th Nov 1910 at Crowborough, Sussex; died Jun 1970
