Arthur Henry Neve was born in 1862 in Tonbridge the first child of Arthur Henry Neve and Harriet Poole. He followed in his father's footsteps and qualified and practised as a solicitor. Arthur Henry Neve was one of Tonbridge's worthies, contributing to Tonbridge's developments from the 1890s until his death in 1936. He lived in The Drive, Tonbridge for most of his adult life where he wrote during 1932 a series of articles about Tonbridge for the Tonbridge Free Press. These were reprinted in 1933 as The Tonbridge of Yesterday which became the authoritative work on the history of Tonbridge.
In 1891 Arthur married Margaret Brooks of Chart Sutton. Together they had three children - Noel, Dorothy and Walter
