1879RecollectionsEdmund Taylor, farmerClaygate FarmAshdown Forest dispute

During The Ashdown Forest Dispute 1876-1882 commoners and land owners were interviewed by the solicitor William Raper. Their comments were recorded in a series of notebooks:

Taylor, Edmund. Claygate Farm, Buxted (property of Mr. A. J. Wantner, 85 acres). Took the farm at Michaelmas 1877. Had litter from the Forest that winter also the winter of 1878-9 and this autumn. Have not turned [out] because it was inconvenient, nor had anything else. Succeeded to Charles Clifton who was tenant for a long number of years. Can get Clifton's address from Robert Stillman of Lewes.
