1841 Mayfield Census
Reference: Rotherfield Enumeration District 12
From Hadlowdown Church by the boundary of the Parish to the Wilderness House and thence to Motts Mill and from thence to the Turnpike road leading from Mayfield to Lewes over Mayfield Common, thence by the Turnpike road to the Crossways at Croust and take all the houses on the West and North West of the road and from Croust back to Hadlowdown Church taking all on the South and South West of the road.
