1544 Will of John Gromrege of Bitborough

Will of John Gromrege of Bitborough (Bidborough) 1544/5

The first part of this will is in Latin (not translated here)

John states that the reason for this will is the disposing of his "land and tenements …" which are "sett lying and beyng within the said parish of Bitborough". He continues: … First I will immediately after my decease that the said Johan my wife shall have my messuage that I now dwelling and all my said lande and tenement with all the … appertanences … during all her naturall terme of her life and after the decease of the said Johan my wife I will that all and single (?) my messuage, lande and withall and … appertanences alone (?) to remain unto Doroty my daughter in fee simple.

Item I will that Johan my wife shall pay or cause to be payed unto Johane Gromrege and Elizabete Gromrege my sisters to every of them 3 pounds 6 shillings 8 pence of lawful money of England and for to bequeath … of Richard Gromrege my father after the manner and form following that is to say within the space of … and immediately following after my decease to every one of them 6s 8d and so from then … to continue and pay unto the said Johan and Elizabete every year one after another yearly until the finished the said 3 pounds 6s 8d be satisfied … and payed.
