John William Harman - the youngest of the children was born on 12th march 1924. He joined the army when he was fifteen and went to the army technical school at Chepstow. He contracted a serious illness and was discharged the service on a pension. After recovering, he joined the home guard.
John William married Joyce M. Kent in 29th March1947 and they had three sons - Stuart J. born in 1950. Ian P. born in 1954 and Neil O. born in 1957.
John William now has his own business in Rotherfield as a heating engineer.
Their son Stuart married Elizabeth Thompson in 1974 and they had two children Samantha and Darren. Tragedy was to strike John and Joyce's family with the death of their son Stuart on the 12th September 2000 at the age of 49 and he was cremated at Tunbridge crematorium on the 10th October 2000. This was a double blow for they had already lost their youngest son Neil in 1999. Neil died at Willen Hospice, Milton Keynes aged 41. Neil was taken to Rotherfield and was buried on 9th November 1999. It is believed that Neil was married to a Tara, but there were no children.
