Edward Waite of Leigh next Tonbridge, yeoman, ‘being aged and weake and infirm of body and expecting my dissolution’ , my body to be decently buried at the discretion of my executor. I give to my son John Waite £5 to be paid to him within one year after my decease by my executor. I give to my son Richard Waite £20 to be paid to him within one year after my decease by my executor, also I give to him my red cow called the long legged cow, to be delivered to him soon after she has calved by my executor. I give to my son William Waite £10 to be paid to him within one year after my decease by my executor and I forgive my said son William all such money for tithes as shall be due from him to me at the time of my decease. I give to my son Samuel Waite my young roan horse, one pair of my best hempen sheets, one pair of my best tow sheets, half a dozen of my best tow napkins, one good hempen towel, one good tow towel, one of my largest pewter dishes, one other pewter dish of a middle size and half a dozen of my pewter plates ‘most indifferent for value’ to be delivered to him by my executor within a short time after my decease. I give to Mary my daughter and her heirs my messuage, farm and lands thereto belonging containing four and a half acres, with the appurtenances, situate and being at Hollanden in the parish of Leigh aforesaid now in the occupation of John Sales, late by me bought and purchased of Thomas Rich and others, to her and her heirs and assigns forever, also to her my new bed tick and feathers sufficient to stuff and fill the same withall and my silver tankard now in her possession, my little short red cow, two pairs of my best hempen sheets, half a dozen hempen napkins, one large pewter dish, one pewter dish of middle size and half a dozen pewter plates, to be delivered to her by my executor soon after my decease. I give to my daughter Elizabeth, wife of Robert Rawlins, £5 to be paid to her by my executor within one year after my decease. I give to the poor people of Leigh 40 groat loaves of good wheaten bread which I will shall be made and baked by my neighbour James Dad and distributed at the parish church of Leigh by the Overseers of the Poor of the said parish among such of the said poor as then shall deem most deserving thereof soon after my decease. I give to my son Thomas Waite and to his heirs and assigns forever my ‘Tyth Ward of Hollanden’ and all tithes of what kind soever thereof or therefrom arising, renewing or coming late by me purchased of Richard Wheeler or others, he or they paying out thereof as my gift which I give to the said Samuel my son £160 within one year after my decease and I make the said Thomas my son sole executor, to whom I will and leave all my ready money, goods and chattels (not formerly disposed of), he paying my debts, legacies and funeral and other incident charges.
