Stephen Dumbrel of Crowborough Town, his wife, Ann, and five children emigrated to Australia on the Roxburgh Castle, which left London on December 29th 1838. They arrived in Sydney in May 1839. Ann died during the voyage, leaving Stephen to bring up the family alone. Two years later, he married Susanna Hider, who had emigrated on the same ship.
