The Weald of Kent, Surrey and Sussex
Stone Hall      Oxted
Historical records

1801HistoryProperty [including Stone Hall] which, in 1801, Henry Streatfeild inherited from a distant cousin of his father's, Thomas Streatfeild of Stonehall in Oxted, Surrey [who was a grandson of William Streatfeild of Hever Castle (d. 1728) and son of Thomas Streatfeild of London (d. 1725)].
Thomas Streatfeild of Stonehall died in 1786 leaving a life interest in his estates to his wife, Sophia, then a life interest to his sister, Jane Linwood, after which the property was to go to his cousin Thomas Streatfeild of Stoke Newington and his heirs male and on failure of heirs to Henry Streatfeild of Chiddingstone [see U908/T325] and his heirs male. Jane Linwood died in 1787 and Thomas Streatfeild of Stoke Newington died in 1792 without a male heir, so that when Sophia, widow of Thomas Streatfeild of Stonehall, died in 1801, the property passed to Henry Streatfeild. The main part of the estate lay in Surrey [see U908/T291] and there was also some property near Manchester [see U908/T431]. Of the property in Kent there was one farm in Bromley [see U908/T226] and several properties in Penshurst, Edenbridge and Cowden, close to the main Streatfeild estate.
