Tyler, Jacob. Aged 66. Owns Whitehouse Farm at Widehurst Common, Maresfield, about 20 acres which he inherited from his Father or Mother. It is held of Duddleswell Manor. He has been in possession for about 50 years. He heard his parents had stone off the Forest and has had a small quantity, but not for 20 years or more. He does not know whether they paid for it, nor could he recollect now whether he paid anything, he had such a small quantity. Edwards, Lord De La Warr's Steward, used to pretend to make a charge 'for what they received'.

He has sometimes cut turf on the Forest, but never paid anything for it and has employed people to cut it for him and is sure they never paid for it. He has sometimes dug marl and never paid for that.

The Weald is at  Database version 14.05 which has ongoing updates to the 395,000 people; 9,000 places; 613 maps; 3,308 pictures, engravings and photographs; and 248 books loaded in the previous version
